7/9/07 Patrick's Point and Trinidad

Just North of Arcada is Trinidad State Beach, park by
the lighthouse and hike down the 250 stairs to arrive at
a deserted beach in a protected cove with lots of giant
rocks in the ocean (inhabited with several seals who
had quite a bit to say by the way), 50 or so boats mored
in the bay an 80 foot high rock in the beach that we
climbed, and to top it off the whole bay was fogged in
and it was fast moving fog, very mysterious looking,
awesome!

Moving on to Patrick's Point, I heard this place was
very beautiful from some HSC moms who had camped
there and boy it was. The perfect trails for us, short, lots
of boulder jumping at the beach, strange algae plants
on the rocks that we had never seen before, cliffs,
lots of adventure.

We also enjoyed the reconstructed Yurok Indian
Village with dug out tree canoe, underground
houses and sweat lodge.

The biggest excitement were the banana slugs we
discovered along the trails, about 2 inches long and
one inch wide. We also saw 2 of them attempting to
mate, ewew slimy, we tried not to disturb them!
