8/4/07 Stewart Mineral Springs

8/4/07

Mommy... yes Luc... which is stronger, metal or fire?
I don't know what do you think?

(one minute pause)

Mommy... yes Luc... i think fire is stronger.. Oh

Mommy... yes Luc... I love you!
I love you too Luc

We are at Stewart Mineral Springs in the Dry Sauna.
It is heated by a wood burning stove and Luc is
mesmerized staring at the flames in the window of
the stove.

We arrived late last night and the boys came with me
on my mineral bath. I learned the difference between
hot springs (more relaxing, less therapeutic, but you
can usually soak in these as much as you like) and
mineral springs (very therapeutic, limited here to
one hour a day because they say the minerals are
very strong. They run bath for you, and you climb in
and just sit for 10-15 minutes, then get out and go to
the sauna for 10 minutes and then cold dip in the river
then back to the mineral bath, repeat this for an hour
or so.

My boys looked so cute, wrapped in their little sheets
and swimming naked in the river, they got right into the
routine and they were even able to keep relatively
quiet in the sauna, so nice.

Such a shift, yesterday we were at a Lake with 150
people at a big full campground and the kids were
running around like packs of dogs wild. Today we
are in major relaxation and chill mode at the mineral
springs, relatively alone, the boys are playing all on
their own. I really am enjoying this diversity, quiet
alone contemplative time in the forest, no cell or
internet service, time to just sit, breathe, stare at the
trees, the creek, the kids. And i like the music festivals
too, the campgrounds, meeting folks, but mostly i like
waking up each day and seeing different scenery.
I feel really alive, i look forward to each day, and
there is a sweet vibrant presence.. it's very good.
